TQIP24 Sessions: Our Top Picks for Trauma Teams

The annual TQIP Conference is around the corner. From November 12-14, 2024, the American College of Surgeons will welcome trauma professionals to discuss patient care, process improvements, trends, and the importance of communication.

This year’s conference theme, Enhancing Quality Through Communication, emphasizes building strong communication skills to improve patient care and strengthen relationships with colleagues, patients, families, and beyond.

ImageTrend is attending TQIP24 (see us at Booth #407!), and we have selected a few standout sessions that we’re excited about. We hope to see you there.

Communication Across Trauma Levels on Tuesday

There is often a gap between Level 3 and 4 facilities receiving outcomes and feedback from Level 1 and 2 hospitals when a patient is transferred to a higher level of care. However, communication across trauma levels is vital.

When a Level 1 or 2 trauma center gives feedback to a Level 3 or 4 hospital on the care it provided, it can lead to productive discussions about the medical treatment received at the Level 3 or 4, streamline transfers to the Level 1 or 2 hospital, and improve outcomes for all trauma patients transferred to higher-level centers.

It will be interesting to see if the panel discusses the automatic exchange of data between trauma centers via technology such as HL7.

TIP: This direct feedback is built into the ImageTrend Patient Registry solution. You can easily create correspondences between facilities by automatically pulling data points from trauma cases into a form letter. Send outcomes and feedback to Level 3 and 4 trauma centers right from the patient chart.

TQIP Benchmarking: Now, Next, and Near

This session is tied with the Oral Abstract - Registry session. The speakers will cover practical, useful thought leadership, like “Not Another Spreadsheet: Optimizing Trauma Workflow for Finding Trauma Registry Patients” and “Trauma Quality Program Tales: Uncovering the Power of Validation Reports to Enhance Data Quality.”

We picked TQIP Benchmarking: Now, Next, and Near because to properly engage with the TQIP process, it’s essential to understand the lay of the land. This session will cover what’s new for Fall 2024 benchmarking reports as well as what’s on the horizon, so trauma registry teams can stay ready.

TIP: Trauma registry teams using ImageTrend Patient Registry always have completely up-to-date systems. They are the first in the nation to have updated NTDB, TQIP, AAAM, and state data dictionaries— months before these data dictionaries go into effect.

What You Really Need to Know About Developing an Effective PI Program

We’re very excited to hear Heather Sieracki, MSN, RN, NEA, from Baylor Scott & White (a healthcare system with 16 trauma hospitals in Texas), discuss how registries can support the PI process and how her team is leveraging theirs for performance improvement. Another key speaker, Tracy Cotner–Pouncy, MSN, RN, TCRN, will discuss the 2022 Standards and what your PIPS program may be missing.

Process improvement cases are complex by nature, making it vital to keep all patient and PI records, including attachments, in one central place—a capability provided by our system. This is particularly true for Level 1 and 2 trauma centers.

TIP: Patient Registry’s robust system keeps all patient records, attachments, test results, and more organized within the PIPS module, recently redesigned in collaboration with over 100 trauma centers nationwide.

Stop by and see us at Booth #407! We hope you enjoy the conference.
