LAKEVILLE, MINN. [November 21, 2019] - ImageTrend, Inc. announced the addition of Recreational Substance fields within the ImageTrend Elite electronic patient care record system to document vaping and other recreational substance related use in a pre-hospital setting. These new data elements will contribute information to this important emerging public health issue for better awareness, research and insight. The Recreational Substance fields can easily be added to any Elite run form within seconds for quick and concise documentation.
ImageTrend worked with state partners to create a set of elements and values that would be applicable nation-wide to add to the spectrum of the current national healthcare concern. The Clinical and Research team at ImageTrend is working with clients and stakeholders to create more insight to better understand the extent of the issue through research.
“It was important for ImageTrend to respond quickly and prioritize the updates as this is a national concern,” commented Doug Butler Jr., Clinical Specialist at ImageTrend. “Analysis of this data will create awareness and understanding to address the effects of these substances on public health and underline the importance of education and cessation programs.”
With the November 2019 update, these Recreational Substance fields are available to all ImageTrend Elite clients, and will also allow state and regional systems to collect these recreational substance values from non-ImageTrend data systems upon import. The reporting and analysis of this data will show the significance of pre-hospital data documentation in the public health environment.

LAKEVILLE, MINN. [December 12, 2019] - ImageTrend, Inc. announced the latest NTDB Data Dictionary is available in Patient Registry™ on January 1, 2020. The timeliness of this update ensures that hospitals are able to accurately and efficiently collect information on their 2020 patients immediately, while they simultaneously collect accurate information on their 2019 patients.
This update gives hospitals the ability to meet the updated TQIP (American College of Surgeons, National Trauma Data Set, Trauma Quality Improvement Program) requirements with the addition of the new Blood Products grid that has been added to the TQIP section. This addition will aid in the documentation of blood products administered to the patient, while giving the hospital flexibility to collect information on all blood product administration during the patient’s entire admission.
“ImageTrend is proud to work cooperatively with the American College of Surgeons and the NTDB staff to ensure Patient Registry meets and exceeds all of the NTDS data collection requirements,” commented Craig Rees, ImageTrend Patient Registry Product Manager. “Patient Registry’s use of a dynamic data collection form will automatically display the new fields for patients who arrive at the hospital on or after the first of the year.”
Additionally, the NTDB inclusion criteria for 2020 patients has been updated to automatically determine if a patient meets the 2019 or 2020 inclusion criteria. New data sections were also added for the 2020 NTDB Hospital Events.
NTDB participants can download the NTDS 2020 Data Dictionary at.https://www.facs.org/quality-programs/trauma/tqp/center-programs/ntdb/ntds/data-dictionary. A change log is available on the NTDB website as well that shows all of the changes that were included in the 2020 data dictionary.
